                                  OWL PROJECT
Continues despite constraints
  To stem biodiversity loss and
reverse climate change, we
need to change how we use
resources; by attaching greater
value to things, making them
last longer and wasting less
(including reducing polluting
gas emissions). A daunting
global task, action taken at a
local and individual level can
make a real difference. Despite
the pandemic, the Oundle
Waste Less (OWL) project continues to create opportunities for re-use, repair, refilling and recycling as well as organising events and talks about topical environmental issues.
Since the project started, the OWL team have run several Repair Cafés, signed over 25 local venues up to the Refill project, promoted its (really useful) app, been instrumental in setting up Oundle’s zero waste shop, Refill Revolution, and arranged talks on topics ranging from electric vehicles to the climate impact of food, from decluttering to decarbonising energy. Oundle’s recent Declutter & Donate garage sales, raising over £3000 for local charities was an OWL event, and support for local charities continues through the collection of used dental
products (which cannot be put in household recycling) at Oundle’s Co-op. The project is also supporting local organisations to reduce waste and carbon emissions.
Next up is an online talk on Wednesday 2nd December at 8pm, entitled ‘The Carbon Impact of Everyday Things’ which will give an introduction to carbon cost and offsetting. Email owl@transitionoundle.org.uk to receive the Zoom link.
