Regimental Support Team – WO2 Keeton
This year has seen big changes in the
way we the Mercian regiment approach Recruiting. The RST in Lichfield now combines Recruiting for the Mercian Regiment with 4 MERCIAN. By combining our resources and re-focusing our efforts we are able to target the correct demographic at the correct events and locations in a more strategic manner covering the entire Mercian Regiment recruiting area.
The RST now has broken down into
four main teams. Three of the teams are recruiting teams. These now have their
own area of interest within the Mercian regiment Recruiting area which is broken down into the East, West and South. This then enables them to work closer with
their 4 MERCIAN counterparts whilst also building up good working relations with the local authorities and contacts that you need to help get access to events and locations that have a high footfall or have big social media coverage.
The last team is the Nurturing Team.
This team’s main focus is to follow up any interest shown in the Mercian regiment from potential recruits with phone calls to offer support and to keep them interested in joining the regiment while they are going through the recruiting process, as this can take a long period of time. The Nurturing team also help with our social media output and are the Regimental mascot handlers.
Through this year the RST has also done some extensive community engagements ranging from the countless VC parades, The Derby County FC visits and
engage with the local population and to get the Mercian regiment brand out there and in the minds of the locals. Recruiting is a
the Remembrance lectures that were given to schools and colleges throughout the Mercian AO.
In the up coming year I see the RST continuing to build up their relationships with 4 MERCIAN and the local authorities to help us
