Of Upton upon Severn on 26 February 2013 aged 87. Terence attended the Royal Grammar School in Worcester and then enlisted into the Worcestershire Regiment
in November 1943 after training at Norton Barracks. He was commissioned into The Baluch Regiment in 1945 and served with them in India and the Middle East and spent his last eight months before demobilisation in September 1947 in Palestine with
2 North Staffordshire Regiment. After demobilisation he worked for GKN in the Middle East, India, Pakistan and Iran.
SALES Christopher Cpl 23545047
Of Lancaster on 13 October 2012 aged 72. He enlisted in 1958 and served with B Coy 1st Battalion The Sherwood Foresters between 1958- 64 in Malaya, Cyprus and Northern Ireland. After
discharge he became a newsagent, an occupation he kept for 30 years until illness forced him to retire.
SANSOM Susan BEM WRAC(V) SSgt W/446819
Of Kirkby in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire aged 66. Sue joined the 3rd Battalion Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment in 1975 and served with it until the
unit was disbanded in 1999. In 1987 she was awarded the BEM, the only female soldier in WFR to be given this award, in civilian life she was a school cook. After the disbandment of WFR Sue became the Secretary of the 3 WFR Association Branch.
SMITH Frank Pte 22397934
Of Newcastle Under Lyme on 8 August 2012 aged 83. He served with the 1st Battalion the Worcestershire Regiment in the Signals Platoon in Penang, Malaya in 1952.
Staffordshire Regiment WO2 Alan Adams
Alan Adams died in June 2013. He enlisted into 1st Battalion, The Staffordshire Regiment and served with them in
Kenya during the Ugandan Army Mutiny operation. He was remembered then as
an intelligent and resourceful soldier. He rose through the ranks and became CSM of C Coy and was with them when they
SNOXHILL Douglas Capt
On 18 May 2013 aged 90. He was
called up in 1941 and after training at Norton Barracks he attended Sandhurst before being commissioned into The Worcestershire Regiment and joining
11 Worc R in November. In 1944 he was posted as an instructor at the Infantry NCO School until joining 9 Worc R. He transferred to A Coy 1 Worc R in July 1945 and served in BAOR and Trieste until his release in November 1946.
SPEIRS William Padre Capt CH4 248378
Of Melrose, Scotland on 13 June 2013
aged 96. He was commissioned as
an Army Chaplain in October 1942 and
joined 1st Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment
in July 1944 in Normandy. He immediately earned the respect and confidence of
all ranks for his fearless conduct under heavy fire and for moving with the leading companies to comfort the wounded and bury the dead. He was wounded and evacuated in late February 1945. Sometime later he wrote that his time with 1 Worc R was the most challenging and rewarding of his whole life.)

Of Shelton Lock, Derby on 7 January 2013 aged 47. Bruce served as a TA Soldier with C Company 3 WFR.
STEVENS George ‘Steve’ Cpl 23535009
Of Queensland, Australia on 14 October 2012 aged 73. He enlisted into the Sherwood Foresters in 1957 and served with the 1st Battalion in Malaya, Singapore, Northern Ireland, West Germany and Berlin and following amalgamation with 1 WFR. He was discharged in January 1980.

Of Worcester on 29 January 2013 aged
90. He enlisted into the Lancashire Fusiliers on 15 July 1941 and served with the West Yorkshire Regiment and then the East Yorkshire Regiment.
On the 19 July 1946 he transferred to 1st
were spearheaded out to Belize in 1977. The Stafford Knot Journal of 1978 states ‘Memories of WO2 Adams producing
order out of chaos at the helipad, whilst simultaneously refuelling a Scout Helicopter, checking off a patrol and talking to a UKLF visitor, still shine brightly’. In some ways he was ahead of his time, as his approach to soldier management was to invite a soldier
Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment. Throughout his service life he served in Berlin, Malaya, West Indies and UK. He left the Regiment on 23 September 1963 and worked in a civilian store and then moved to the ovens’ department at the Metal
Box Company, Worcester.
WRIGHT William Howell Pte 4976115
Of Eastwood, Nottingham on 30 November 2012 aged 93. He enlisted in the Sherwood Foresters at Normanton Barracks, Derby on 16 July 1938 and was posted to the
1st Battalion. He went with it to Palestine, Cyprus and North Africa and was taken POW at the Fall of Tobruk in 1942. On the 5 February 1946 he was demobilised on repatriation.
YARDLEY William ‘Bill’ Pte 4979020
Of Chesterfield on 30 April 2011 aged 91. He enlisted into the 2nd/5th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters in January 1940 and went as part of the BEF to France. He was evacuated through Dunkirk on 2 June 1940 and then served in Scotland until January 1941, he then moved to East Anglia and Kent with the Battalion. In December
1942 he embarked with the Battalion for North Africa and on 3 January 1943 then disembarked in Algiers. After North Africa was liberated he returned to the UK and served with 18 Platoon 8th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters in Wrotham, Kent. He completed his service on 1 August 1946.

SHRIMPTON Eileen, wife of ex WO1(RSM) Charlie Shrimpton of the 1st Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment on 8 January 2013 aged 83.
