Presentation of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services –Tuesday 3rd September 2013
Providing an exceptional educational service for local schools within the Museum and preserving its Regimental collection.
The presentation of the Award was performed at a ceremony by HM Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire, Mr Ian Dudson which our volunteers were invited to. The term volunteer was expanded to include virtually anyone who had helped the Museum, so we had Museum Friends, the Regimental Support Team, Sergeant Mahoney (Staffordshire ACF), people who had deep cleaned the Museum and a host of other friends.
On the same day, Watchman V was promoted and by tradition this is confirmed by the wife of the Lord Lieutenant. WO2 Greg Hedges, Mrs Jane Dudson and Corporal Watchman V
Our volunteers James Whittaker and Christine Gilbert receive the Award and Certificate from Mr Ian Dudson HM Lord Lieutenant of Staffordshire. The Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets are S/Sgt Edward Halliwell and Cadet Warrant Officer Catherine Smith
Sarah Elson explains how she started the volunteers programme in 1998 and built up the Desk, Research & Education teams. Sarah continues as a Trustee
Our Education Volunteers – Paul Hitchin, Keith Hughes, Richard Cartwright, Dave Shergold, Mike Webley, Phil Schofield & Luke Comley. The work this group have done for our education programmes over several years cannot be overstated
Mrs Brenda Jackson of Stafford was presented with a bouquet of flowers as a thank you for her generously providing Cpl Watchman’s food for many years
