 Studio Wald
PAPER PRODUCTS, PERFECT FOR PLOTTERS!
Studio Wald represents the combined creations of husband and wife team Jakob Creswell-Rost & Freya Hawtin. Based in Leeds, they design and produce a variety of homewares
and stationery which often has a connection to nature. They are keen gardeners and enjoy good food. These things have inspired many of their ideas.
Their recipe notecards show illustrations of herbs and vegetables with the addition of a recipe on the inside cover of the notecard. The Gardener’s Year is a handy pocket book in which to keep dates and notes on gardening, for example when to pot out seedlings. They also work with Jakob’s mother, Ulrike Rost, in creating lino print and pattern. Ulrike’s work has always been centred around depicting plants, animals and insects and this has no doubt rubbed off on Jakob.
All products are produced with great care and attention to detail. The paper elements are printed and finished in England, mostly in their home county of Yorkshire, using 100% recycled or FSC certified paper. They also use a wide range of printing techniques, from hands-on methods like lino print and screen-print, to production processes like letterpress and lithographic print. Materials are carefully selected and often chosen for their warm, textural qualities which balance and enhance each other. They supply their products to many fantastic independent shops around the UK and abroad. They also supply larger shops such as the V&A, and work on bespoke collections
for shops including the Hepworth Wakefield and the Science Museum. Their work can also be found online.
