 Air Cadets Complete Leadership Course
Cadets Isabel Riddles and Ryan Kettle of 2388 (Castleford) Squadron recently completed a weekend Junior Non-commissioned Officer (NCO) training course. The course, which focused on leadership and management, included both theoretical instruction and practical exercises.
The training provided them with valuable insights into effective leadership techniques, teamwork, communication skills, and the responsibilities of NCOs within the Air
Cadet organisation. They participated in team-building activities, learned about decision-making processes, and practiced problem-solving in various different scenarios.
Cadet Riddles expressed her enthusiasm for the course: “Being part of the JNCO course was an incredible experience. I learned about effective communication, teamwork, and how to lead by example. I gained valuable insights in how to manage a team. I'm grateful for the opportunity to enhance my leadership abilities."
Cadet Kettle echoed her sentiments:
"The course was challenging but rewarding. Learning about leadership principles and
how to motivate others has been incredibly valuable. The course challenged me in positive ways."
Commanding Officer of 2388 (Castleford) Squadron, Flight Lieutenant Victoria Williamson, commended both cadets for their dedication and commitment to their training. "Isabel and Ryan exemplify the qualities we value; discipline, teamwork, and a desire to learn. Their successful completion of this course reflects their determination to excel - a big well done to both.”
  cadets to compete in an environment that hasn't been done before. All the cadets had a great time, and many were hoping this will become an annual event." Cpl Gabriella Tredinnick (366 Sqn) said "It was a great day, I got chance to meet friends I hadn't seen all year in addition to making many new ones. The routes were really fun, and I loved it when we all cheered each other on."
The Wing would also like to thank Flying Officer Simon Tredinnick and Awesome Walls for support with the venue and route setting, 74 Solutions for the kind donation of Petzl headtorches, RAB for providing beanie hats and Outside, Hathersage for donating Nalgene water bottles. These fantastic prizes went to the top cadets in each category.
