A QUEEN’S CROWN
Charlie had taken an early morning walk to Barns Wood to place flowers on his wife’s grave and to examine the changes that had been made in the wood. Wisdom had insisted that tighter security was needed around the enchanted garden. The old winding tracks and walkways had disappeared beneath dense bark and soil. Now there was only one way in and out of the fairy kingdom.
Charlie sat down by the grave and thought about his wife, Lottie. He missed her and wondered what she would have thought about the black deer. He sighed, and set off to walk back home across the meadow.
‘Charlie! Charlie! Hang on a minute,’ a breathless voice cried.
