The Black Deer and Charlie Rabbit
He much preferred to live in the meadow than the wood but the deer was playing on his mind and during these troubled days, he wanted to be closer to Sophia and the fairy kingdom.
Charlie Rabbit had already built the hallway and kitchen of Badger’s new home. It was only metres away from Sophia’s residence and a secret passageway had been dug out to link the two buildings together. A locked door in Sophia’s bedroom would lead to a false cupboard door in Badger’s kitchen. Visitors would never suspect what it hid.
Badger lay back in his armchair gazing at the red and orange flames flickering in the fire. The colours were spectacular especially the smaller blue ones. ‘Blue – red – yellow ... like coloured stones,’ he murmured. He sat upright and said:
‘That’s it! Sophia has a tiara, not a crown. Why didn’t I think of this before?’
He paced around the room gathering his thoughts and making plans. He grabbed the Wisdom papers and a pen and began writing furiously. It was well past midnight when he’d finished.
‘Ha-ha! Now I know how to catch the wretched creature. Gosh! I’ll sleep better tonight, and in the morning, I’ll find Charlie and tell him my good news.’
