The animals stood together looking down at the doll. Charlie thought it was horrid. ‘It’s so ugly, and with hair like that, it should be scaring crows away. What do you want it for, Sam?’ he asked.
‘You had better ask Paris,’ smiled Sam looking at Charlie’s daughter.
‘You were searching for something to lure the deer into the enchanted garden. This is it,’ declared Paris.
‘Look at it, Charlie,’ said Sam with enthusiasm as he leaned the figure against the courtyard wall. ‘Paris understands what I am saying. Does the doll remind you of anyone?’
