The deer began to move slowly into the garden and Badger glimpsed three gold rings for the first time. It looked up and down, and left and right as it passed by where Charlie and Fay were, both holding their breath. William Weasel was crouching close by with Sam Hedgehog. A few leaves floated down past the deer’s nose, and it stopped, and looked up. For a second, Badger thought that it had spotted the net.
