The Black Deer and Charlie Rabbit
Obedient red and yellow flames weaved and danced under the spell and illuminated the enchanted garden and woodland. Sophia spoke once more and the flames grew taller. From the leaping flames rose a dark shadow that ascended into the tree-tops. An explosion of dazzling coloured stars swirled through the trees and from its core fell a multitude of blue flowers.
The animals and birds stared up at the trees and down to the ground in disbelief. Badger closed his eyes and opened them to see clumps of fresh blue cornflowers in the soil where the deer had laid. He looked around, half expecting to see the creature standing behind him, but there was nothing. Charlie was the first animal to speak.
