   BUGLERS’ ASSOC
Formation of The Bugler’s Branch of The Rifleman’s Association
This period was dominated by change for the Buglers Association of the Light Division and The Rifles (BALDR). The establishment of The Rifleman’s Association (TRA) included the launch of the Bugler’s Branch, which has replaced the BALDR as the official veteran Bugler’s organisation to represent the RIFLES in the future. It was successfully launched at the RIFLES Sounding Retreat at Horse Guards Parade on 8-9 June. Bookings for Bugler’s Branch TRA can be arranged
via SWIFT.
After eight years of veteran bugling, some members of the BALDR voted to remain an official Regimental Association still providing bugling for the Regiment and also supporting wider community events, when Bugler’s Branch TRA is not available. We agreed that members can join the Bugler’s Branch if they wanted to, so we remain a very active Bugler’s Association.
Over this period we have been very
busy. We have been supporting the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands Campaign, sounding calls on Anzac Day (25th
April) above the Map of Australia
Memorial badge and undertaking
many more anniversaries and
funerals. The highlight of the
period was the well-attended and successful Light Infantry Reunion
at Shrewsbury on the 18th June.
Without a regimental band, our
Chairman Stan Wilkinson arranged
for 10 BALDR Buglers to play in support of the regimental marches which were played over our sound systems. This was fortunately very successful and enabled the Light Infantry veterans to hold a proper parade.
We wish the Bugler’s Branch TRA every success in the future whilst the BALDR remains available to play at those functions that Bugler’s Branch TRA is unable to assist with and we hope that you will support all buglers as you have done so magnificently in the past.
