  MIDLANDS
LIGHT INFANTRY REUNION 2022
After cancellations in 2020 and 2021, it
was time for veterans of the Light Infantry and its antecedent regiments to gather at Shrewsbury. Around 1,000 made the trip, with Battalion Smokers on the Friday night followed by the main event at Shrewsbury Town Football Club on the Saturday, where the veterans were well looked after. Those that wanted to march took part in the Veterans’ Parade, supported by the Buglers Branch of The Rifleman’s Association and recorded military music, the RIFLES Band having had to pull out at the last minute to undertake public duties in London.
The 2022 reunion was organized, for the last time, by Capt Ron Gittings, who handed over to Capt Andy Rhodes. The salute was taken by Lt Gen (Retd) Tim Evans, who much enjoyed inspecting the veterans’ contingents.
Next year’s Reunion will take place on Sat 17 Jun 23, and all are welcome.
