BLOOMING
BRILLIANT
Oundle Horticultural Society
Spring is often the best time for gardeners,
as well as being the busiest. The Oundle
Horticultural Society committee members are
busy throughout much of the year, with talks,
visits and planning, but now both
the Plant Sale (Sat 17th May) and the
Summer Show (13th and 14th July at
The Acre, Milton Road) need a lot of
attention. Seeds and plants are to be
coaxed into growth and the schedule
for the show has to be written, judges
consulted, and organisation of the sale
and show days planned carefully.
Our Spring Plant Sale and Coffee
Morning is at the Joan Strong Centre
on Saturday 17th May from 11am-1pm
and is a good way to obtain high-quality plants,
grown by committee members and patrons for
the occasion. Bring your family and friends and
stock up your garden and meet over a cup of
coffee! Plant donations will be very welcome.
The schedule for the Summer Show is out
now, and is available in many places in town:
Oundle Library, The Barn Garden Centre,
Fletton House to name a few but it is also
available on our website. Get growing, sewing

and making and painting! We are hoping for
a bumper year of entries from the keen talent
that resides in Oundle and surrounding villages.
Photos here show some of over 450 entries
across a range of horticulture and the
decorative arts, including all kinds of
fun pieces by children aged 12 years
and under. There are cups, awards and
small cash prizes to be won.
Our volunteers who help at the Plant
Sale in May and the Summer Show are
vital to us, but we are also launching
the Friends of OHS for people willing
to help during the year with publicity
and other tasks to boost the Society’s
committee. Both Volunteers and
Friends will be very welcome – please get in
touch if you would like to join our very friendly
team.
