Search and Rescue
   Northamptonshire Search and
Rescue (NSAR), a charity of now
nearly 60 professional volunteers,
surpassed its previous busiest year of incidents, with still 3 weeks to go of 2022. Moreover, it delivered a record number of hours volunteering, supporting the counties residents, assisting Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire & Rescue Services.
To date (December 2022) the NSAR had been called for 93 incidents, delivered just under 7500 hours volunteering (a record high), and if paid at national living wage this would equate to £71,000 of cost. NSAR charge no cost to anyone for the services delivered. It is certain that the team have saved multiple lives during the year. It also wants to express its thoughts and prayers to those lost during the past year. Despite best efforts, on some occasions the missing person cannot be found in time, which is a painful reality of the work these volunteers undertake.
NSAR Spokesperson said: “The team is rightly proud of the work it does, knowing we have been able to help save lives and return
those missing to families. The organisation has continued to grow, and will remain on call 24/7, 365 days a year ready to assist when called.”
The team also want to thank everyone, who time and time again come out to support NSAR, be it through fundraising, donations, bringing hot drinks to searches, making purchases of crucial equipment, and so much more.
NSAR is also more than just humans, they have several search dogs both qualified and in training. These incredible animals’ hours don’t get logged directly, but it is estimated they
