And yes we do have more than five members in the shooting team, they are currently all deployed.
The highlight of the year’s calendar for the Regiment is the participation in the Fort Nottingham Highland Games where we get to compete against the local farmers and other units. This year saw a Pte A.T. Masuku winning a 2nd in the Walk the Weight, Cpl T. Pepeta winning the Kilted Mile , the team coming 2nd in the Tug of War and winning 2nd Overall for the day..
Members of the Regiment participated in the South African Army Fittest Solider Competition and did very well with Cpl M.T. Nhlapo and Pte T.S.Ngubane bringing home medals.. Participation in civic parades has also been in the fore and the Regiment has been prominent in the
Remembrance parades in the City and participated in the annual placing of poppies on the local War Graves.
The Regiment participated in Exercise Madulo and Operation Vukuhlome in October 2023 at the Combat Training School in Lohotla. This was the low of the year when a bush fire swept through the training area and our members lost everything, personal and issued, but like the phoenix they rose from the ashes and supported other units who lost members in the blaze.
As we prepare to say farewell to 2023 we will start 2024 with pre deployment training for our next deployment on Operation Corona and tackle any other tasks the South African National Defence Force has for us.
