EAGLE AND CARBINE 121
GLASGOW AND LANARKSHIRE BATTALION ARMY CADET FORCE
2023 has been a very busy one for 6 Troop SCOTS DG in Govan. Our previous Detachment Commander Captain Raymond Bell has moved on to become our new company commander and we received a new detachment commander, SSI Mark Hume, who was an ex-cadet from the detachment.
The cadets themselves have been very busy throughout the year progressing through their training syllabuses and gaining a mix of qualifications. They have assisted in several community events which they have thoroughly enjoyed. One of the events was during the weekend of His Majesty The King’s Coronation when, following the procession event in Glasgow, the cadets went to Erskine Care Home to assist in their Coronation celebrations and party. The cadets had a great day out and engaged
with veterans in the home as well as the staff. They were all were congratulated on their turn outs, attitudes, and overall helpfulness. And they keep asking if they can attend something like it again in the future.
The cadets also visited the SCOTS DG museum in Edinburgh Castle in April and found the visit very insightful and entertaining. They have, subsequently, asked to go on more visits to the museum.
