REGIMENTAL ADMINISTRATION OFFICE DEPARTMENT
2023 dawned with the Regimental Administration Office Department fully ready to support a busy year for the Regiment. Postings in and out, military and career courses, adventurous training, sports, exercises, operations, and inspections have all taken place in 2023. Reflecting on a successful year, the focus of the Regimental Administration Office department now switches to preparation for VJTF(L) and another a busy year ahead.
We have welcomed four new arrivals who have brought with them a mixture of enthusiasm, energy and experience. Sgt Johnson arrived on a GRoW programme and liked the Det so much decided to stay in the role of Sys Coord. Also joining us in April was Cpl Boila, who made her first trip to Scotland from 26 RA in Larkhill. Cpl Wilson arrived in June from 3 RIFLES on promotion and finally the new UA SSgt Hudson joined us in October again on promotion from 3 RIFLES. The Det Comd also welcomed a baby daughter, Isabelle, with his fiancé Charlotte, huge congrat- ulations from us all (insert picture of baby Isabelle).
There has also been a great deal of departures from the department this year starting in February when Pte Gurung moved on to the KRH, his wife’s Momo making will be especially missed by the Det. Summer saw us lose LCpl Tasker on promotion to 35 Engr Regt swiftly followed by SSgt Cunningham who departs after a long and illustrious career to return to the NHS. Sgt Bell-Bailey and Cpl Paterson both left us after maternity leave, Sgt Bell-Bailey to her dream assignment in Cyprus and Cpl Paterson to a well-earned spot in the Barclays Military Talent Scheme. Finally October saw Sgt Whyman head to civilian street after a 24 year career and Cpl Haining move
on promotion to 3 RIFLES (there seems to be a theme here) we wish them all, the very best for the future. LCpl Keicher and Pte Bura were also both successful on their promotion boards and we hope to keep them with us.
Not surprisingly, the focus of the Regiment this year has been on the return of Op NEWCOMBE ROTO 5 and the build up to Ex WESSEX STORM. The Detachment have supported the Regiment tirelessly in their preparations both as administrators and soldiers.
The Det Comd, Cpl Haining and LCpl Tasker all arrived back from MALI, sooner than anticipated, before setting off on well earned POTL. With a packed FoE our focused swiftly turned to getting the Regt to Northern Ireland for an extensive range package, a task that almost saw Sgt Johnson regret her decision to stay with us.
