                                NEWCOMBE team returning. The usual paperwork for days, returns submitted and unending spreadsheets were managed and compiled by him. Well done, a heroic effort in pulling this together with A Sqn`s SQMS.
The training year continued with the usual ITRs and continuation training, all looking forward to Ex WESSEX STORM and VJTF(L) (Very high readiness Joint Task Force (Land)) 24. The dept as always, supporting wider regt needs but also starting to focus on our own require- ments, first up was heading over to Northern Ireland to Magilligan ranges for a week’s range time. As team tech deployed on mass to show the F Echs how to conduct dismounted attacks day and night. That much so, we managed to scoop an award for best fireteam! However, we were brought back down to earth with a bang, as the annual LEA (Land Equipment Audit) was upon us. Previous years we have given a good account of ourselves, achieving positive reports. This year was no different, the team managed to pull it out the bag! Not only this, the regt won the annual Major Unit Equipment Care competition 22/23 – a first for SCOTS DG!
SCOTS DG had been warned off for some time that we were going to head up the ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) group for VJTF(L). This meant we would have to hold all the equipment we would need as if the full regiment were deploying, instead of just our BUF (Basic Unit Fleet). What followed was a lot of back and forth with 7X, 1XX and Fd Army on what we require and how it was going to come. This was no easy task however, once the plan was set and we started to receive the details on where we were getting the extra 140 vehicles from. Small teams were sent
out across the country to receive it: some of it in good shape, some not so much. This was the same for all the weapons and sights, thankfully, this was a simpler task as Fd Army were able to allocate from stock from depot. The Dept would like to thank all involved in this task.
