with the hired forklift, which he described as the cockpit of the “Star ship Enterprise”. Taking multiple attempts to get in onto the low loader.
Cpl Crawford enjoyed his night out and two days in bed after. The team performed to the highest standards and supported all elements.
After a well-deserved summer leave the focus was now on Wessex Storm. Initial plan was to build a 500-person tented camp for the battlegroup, the army’s loan pool had different ideas and only enough for 120 were made available. B Ech deployed a week early to get the infra- structure and stores in place at Avon Camp. Showers, laundry unit, field kitchen built by catering department, lighting, ammo which included the Field Storage Site and refrigerators. All supported by the QMs ePC, much to the amusement of the WO2 RQMS(T) Messenger.
With the refrigerators now on and food delivered, prior to the battlegroup arriving. B Ech managed a night off and an outing to Warminster. Suffice to say the first and the last on this deployment. The battlegroup arrived and deployed in good order, B Ech set about supporting tech
with unit collects and day to details of supporting a major exercise.
The seven-week deployment seen several details. Leuchars, Bicester, Donnington, Salisbury A&E, Aldershot, Colchester and Bovington. I’m sure the “Trimble” spreadsheet will have true an accurate information.
The exercise was completed, Sgt Musson arrived late to assist with the ammunition return. This phase included the RQ and Sgt Musson working tirelessly to rectify the cancelled ammunition collection. All stores and equipment were collected by the Friday, B Ech headed north to prepare for Christmas session and leave.
Another busy but productive year which tested the department. Yet again a “pass” all round and well done everyone. We say farewell and all the best to WO2 (RQMS) “Scotty” McCall, LCpl “Simmy” McCainsh and to Cpl “Jonah” Jones to civilian street. Congratulations to LCpl Ferrans on promotion to Cpl and WO2 (RQMS) “Topper” Harley on commissioning.
