commander’s dinner night after. All our crew commanders enjoyed an entertaining evening in the Officers mess and we hope to continue this tradition. We ended August with a Summer BBQ. Compliments to SSgt Lumsden for the amazing spread as always and SSgt Humphries for his work behind the scenes.
September seen WO2 Hallam, SSgt Shanker and Sgt Connell represent the regiment at the RBSL Equipment Care Competition. An excellent effort for everyone involved as we were awarded 1st place.
It’s now October and Balaklava was the next on the cards for the WO’s as we are piped to the Officers Mess. Sadly there was no Fireball Hockey this year, but an enter- taining night non the less. The main event is now upon us, and after months of preparation, we deployed on Ex Wessex Storm. A bitterly cold and challenging exercise on Salisbury plain to prepare us for VJTF in the coming year.
December is the time for festive celebrations in the WOs’ & Sgts’ Mess. Mess dress was the theme for our annual Christmas party in Gulistan House. The evening’s events went smoothly, although some characters made a more noteworthy and eye-opening impression. A night to remember for everyone involved.
The end of the year is among us and our first event of 2024 will be our annual Burns night. The groundwork is key to this special event, and many hours of practising poems, songs and speeches will make this a memorable Burns night.
This year we welcomed Sgt Alexander, Sgt Smith, Sgt King and Sgt Simpson to the mess, congratulated Sgt’s Christie, McQuarrie, Stoddart, Prescott, Williams and Tamani on their promotion to SSgt. Congratulations to WO2 Hallam, WO2 Grieve, WO2 Jarret and WO2 Steel on their well-earned promotion to Warrant Officer. Congratulations to WO2 Lang on his promotion to WO1.
On behalf of the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess we would like to congratulate all our mess members on their marriages and birth of their children.
