Paul’s beautifully crafted guitar solos entranced Oxfordshire audiences (we’re talking “Top Gun” and “Hot Stuff” here) and he welcomed the arrival of a new Fighter, baby George. Completing the guitar section, cool Tony and gorgeous George laid down their funky riffs whilst Will added a unique sound to the band on ukulele.
At the RAF 100 dinner, diva Lizzie sang how she was proud and a survivor as she gave new life to cult hits by Tina Turner and Gloria Gaynor. With his soulful tones and super-smooth chat, Fred bounced between classics by artists as varied as Paolo Nutini and Justin Timberlake whilst Ben proved he could shake you all night long as he whipped audiences
“
into a frenzied, writhing mass on the dance floor. Unforgettable.
As the summer nights grew longer, the band moved outside for our first open air gig of the tour – the lakeside Full Moon party, collaborating with another Cormorant class act, “DJ Sean T” on the decks. Could there possibly be a better way to celebrate the striping-up of some of our Officers? Negative.
July saw us play alongside other big-name acts at the Purple Ball and Music & Fireworks, giving huge new audiences the opportunity to enjoy the KFIAPB experience. And, then, all too soon, the kit was stowed for the final time and the tour was over.
