   and Security Review. In the interests of time, it was not possible to visit each aircraft, but we left with a clear understanding of how they might be woven into the Operational plan.
The Air Mobility aircraft on display included the new A400M Atlas and we were briefed on its strategic and tactical air transport roles, and how the new aircraft was being folded into the current Air Delivery infrastructure. On the other side of the spectrum, in terms of age at least, was the C130J which has had an extension of service out to 2035.
Last, but by no means least, and fundamental to the ‘sharp end’ of operations, were the men and women
of the organisations that work tirelessly to keep the front line delivering effect; from air traf c control, air and road movements, security and policing to meteorology, Explosive Ordnance Disposal and handling, communications, electronic warfare and medical services.
After 2 days of wandering around exposed hard standing in the icy winds of Lincolnshire, ACSC 20 was particularly enamoured with the delivery of high quality, hot and very tasty lunches supplied by the Mobile Catering and Support Unit, who also excelled with provision of bacon rolls in the early hours of arrival, along with regular top ups of hot coffee and tea in the brew tents scattered around the sites.
