The Band of The Coldstream Guards in period costume during the meal
Music from The Band of The Coldstream Guards, and Pipers from The 1st Battalion, The Scots Guards, lled the forum as they heralded the start of the evening by marching magni cently through the iconic Hougoumont Farm gates. Throughout the dinner
the musicians were superb... having mysteriously transformed into period costume to play a medley of the Duke of Wellington’s favourite tunes from 1815, complete with authentic instruments. A little more up to date were the excellent sets by the ACSC student band, The Red Lights, later in the bar.
Vignettes by Major General Andrew Sharpe and Professor Niall Barr delivered a colourful history
as guests dined on great food. SERCO and ESS provided a sterling service to the event, both in
the preparation and on the night. After the meal, passionate singing brought the echoes of the battle to the dinner before it was time to retire to the bar. All in all, this was a wonderful dinner, made fantastic by the people there from all parts of the Academy, the Services, Industry, Academia and, of course, all corners of the world.
