Fun in The Fannaichs

welcoming. It lacks internet, or even a good mobile phone signal, but if you must have these things, Ullapool and its pubs and cafes is not too far away.
Situated on the shores of Little Loch Broom, at the base of An Teallach, behind which is the Great Wilderness, reaching across to Slioch and the stunning crags above the Fionn Loch, Dundonnell provides access to all of
the giants of Torridon and Wester Ross. Beinn Allgin, Beinn Eigh and Liathach are close enough for day trips, as are the easier mountains of the Fannaichs, as well as Beinn Dearg and the Munros of Glencarron and the Glenuig Forest. But it is to the North, in Assynt, where your breath is really taken away. Stac pollaidh; small, but perfectly formed, Suilven and Canisp may not reach Munro height, but these isolated hills,
like vast ships in an ocean of moor and loch, some many miles from the closest road, are the closest that Scotland has to true wilderness. I could go on [even Ben More Assynt, Foinaven and Arkle, Ben Hope and and Ben Klibreck are not that far away], but you get the picture.
There is scope for mountaineering of all kinds; hill walking, scrambling, ridge traverses, long mountain climbing
