The garden room
Walking out of the kitchen doors takes you into the garden, where the view leads to the splendid garden room at the far end. The structure is very stylish, and in many ways it is simplicity itself, with lightweight but fully watertight side panels, a roof with louvres that can be opened and closed, and semi-transparent screens at the front and side to keep out the sun while allowing light through. And, of course, these features are just as useful in wet weather as well... very snug. All of the garden room project was managed by Spud from start to finish, and there was no planning permission required for it.
‘The garden room has transformed our lifestyle,’ Rich told us. ‘We get down here pretty much every day we are here, and it has all mod cons – a barbecue, pizza oven, heating, electricity and plenty of space for a big sofa and table. As well as being great for socialising, it can also make a good home office during the day.’
Kate added: ‘Alongside it, I keep a vegetable bed ,where I try and grow things that you can put straight onto the barbecue. It really is a divine spot. ‘All in all,’ she continued, ‘we cannot fault the work of Classic Stamford.
As well as their careful attention to detail, they were tidy as they went along, keeping dust to a minimum. We are absolutely delighted with the kitchen, the patio doors and the garden room... they have really transformed our home.’
