Get board over Christmas
Whether you’re getting together with friends and family this Christmas, looking for a gift, or fancy adding to your own games collection, Jollys Toys of Thrapston makes these recommendations...
‘Murdle: A Board Game’
£20, for ages 12 years plus, 2 to 4 players, gameplay is around 60 minutes
Based on the #1 Bestselling Sundays Times mystery puzzle books by G T Karber, this
board game version brings the puzzling and detecting off the page and onto the Christmas dining table. It has a flavour of Cluedo about
it; filled with deductive reasoning, extracting clues from your opponents and a good dose of logic, but also a dash or two of humour and fun. Different every time you play, each ‘Murdle’ is a humorous mini-mystery that challenges you to find whodunit.
Great for: puzzlers, older children and adults
‘Pet Jumble’
£12, for ages 4 years plus, 2 or more players, gameplay is around 5 minutes
Like the classic game of ‘snap’ with more thinking involved. Turn over the top two cards and be the first to spot which one pet or animal- accessory matches on both – there’ll only ever be one match! Shout out the match and grab the pair of cards if you guess first. Heard of Dobble? It’s the same but easier for younger children to spot and name the items. Dinosaur and Unicorn versions also available.
Great for: a quick-play card game to suit all ages – the observation skills required are a leveller!
‘Sequence’
£25, for ages 7 years plus, 2-12+ players in equal teams, gameplay is around 15 minutes Race against your opponents to win 5 chip sequences on the playing board. Use strategy
and skill to block the other players while also furthering your own lines. You use playing cards and chips in a game that’s a little like Connect
4 with a whole lot more people, strategy and jeopardy mixed in. Easy to learn how to play.
Great for: large, multi-generational family gatherings and gets even the non-game players interested
