COVID legislation in the US has unfortu- nately led to an 18-month hiatus for this exercise. We are relieved to say that we have now been able to return to the US and during this period and we have seen three iterations of this exercise – long may it continue! The key benefit to this exercise is currency for the attending JTACs, however the opportunities to develop increased competency are unbeatable. This exer- cise sees us work with A-10 ‘Warthog’ and HH-60 ‘Pave Hawks’ from the US Airforce. Since our return after COVID, James Troop has re-ignited our strong links with the 74th & 75th Fighter Squadrons, as well as the 41st Rescue Squadron. Getting to work with these units is a real privilege: because their professional skills are as good as they come and we have learned a great deal working with them. The Bty’s JTACs look forward to pilots from the 74th visiting the UK in May 22 and assisting with our train- ing during Ex SUNDERLAND DAGGER.
