and discipline in the military, and how these qualities can be translated into suc- cess in other areas of life.
In conclusion, the Fighting Fourth’s victory in the 2023 Royal Artillery Boxing Cham- pionships was a shining moment for the Regiment and a testament to their unwa- vering dedication and hard work. Their
success in the ring reflected the Regi- ment’s ethos and commitment to excel- lence, both in the military and in the sport of boxing. 4RA’s triumph in the Champion- ships is a reminder of the important role that sports and physical fitness play in the military and how they can be used to cul- tivate discipline, teamwork, and a strong sense of camaraderie among soldiers.
4th Regiment Royal Artillery
In February 2022, I had the privilege of participating in the Army Karting Team trials, representing our esteemed Regi-
ment. Drawing upon my prior karting experience, I was fortunate enough to secure a position in the Army Team.
In early March, we kicked off the season with our first race, providing an opportu- nity for me to forge strong connections with my fellow teammates. The camara- derie within the team was exceptional, and our collective determination for suc- cess throughout the season was palpa- ble. Throughout the week, the fledgling team demonstrated impressive speed and skill. On the practice day, held on Friday, we had a series of eight sessions to fine-tune our karts and optimize their competitiveness for race day on Saturday.
Saturday featured a qualifying session of ten minutes, followed by a demanding race lasting one hour and fifty minutes. The race itself fostered team bonding and presented us with various chal- lenges. Subsequently, we engaged in discussions, speculating on the outlook for the remainder of the 2022 season. While the team demonstrated great competitiveness, technical issues unfor-

tunately prevented my participation in several races.
As we enter 2023, our team is deter- mined to achieve an even more success- ful season. In January, I had the pleasure of joining my former teammates for tri- als, alongside promising new drivers we recruited who share our team’s passion for triumph. I am humbled to have been chosen as the number one driver for the Army Team this year, a responsibility I wholeheartedly embrace. To secure a competitive advantage and enable par- ticipation in the light kart category in the future, I have implemented a harsh train- ing regime aimed at maintaining my fit- ness and keeping my weight down.

As of this writing in March 2023, we eagerly anticipate the upcoming races scheduled for April in Scotland. I have full confidence in our team’s abilities and we are all enthusiastic about test- ing ourselves against our rivals. From myself, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Regiment for providing me with the opportunity to compete in the Forces Championship, where I will proudly rep- resent the Army against teams from the RAF and Royal Navy. The privilege of displaying the British Army’s colours on my kart fills me with immense pride, and I eagerly anticipate a competitive season to come.
