4th Regiment Royal Artillery
   British Army Warrior Fitness (BAWF)
4RA’s British Army Warrior Fitness (BAWF) Team (and its associated fitness group, CrossFit Alanbrooke)
have had a very successful year within both military and civilian competitions. This period saw the male and female Teams finishing the 2021-22 session in the top 3 major units within the Northern League.
Within this period the team also entered multiple civilian competitions as both indi- viduals and as teams: this saw SSgt Mid- dleton and Gnr Murphy podium in 2nd place as individuals in a very competitive tournament. WO2 McGee also finished in a strong 4th place, with Sgt Reed finish- ing in the top half with a 12th place fin- ish. Throughout this session the team has

seen 2 athletes make the transition from athlete to coach, with WO2 McGee and LBdr Butler attending and passing the CrossFit level 1 course and British Weight- lifting level 1 and 2 courses. This now offers more 1-to-1 opportunities for members of the BAWF Team and CrossFit Alanbrooke to develop all aspects of fitness whilst learning the safe and correct techniques of Olympic Weightlifting to maximise indi- viduals potential.
CrossFit Alanbrooke is always looking to improve the fantastic training facili- ties within the Regiment, and the ongo- ing improvements have seen a area of the Regimental Gymnasium turn into a specialised Olympic Lifting/Strength and conditioning (S&C)area. Now the future
intention is to add a bespoke Rig offering more S&C bays, which will then provide more areas to train, not only for members of CrossFit Alanbrook, but the entire Regi- ment. CrossFit Alanbrooke’s future intent to continue developing additional coaches from within the Regiment and looking to offer opportunities for club members to get qualified in associated disciplines like yoga, strength, gymnastics, and condition- ing.
With an ever growing team, more coaches and an impressive tally of competition results, the future of BAWF and Crossfit at the Regiment has never looked more promising.
