about it. He proudly told me that they ride on most parades and that the stables are within the grounds of the 1st Military College. I said that I would love to visit and a few month later, with no forewarning found myself tent pegging against the CO of the Mounted Regiment.
The final exercise I got to witness before my HOTO began was the ‘Confidence Jump’ which was a 30m Jump into the Tigris river, just up stream of a sewage treatment plant out flow that all Iraqi Officer Cadets do. I am not sure we will see RMAS doing something similar on Tower Bridge any time soon!
Finally during my HOTO I managed to get in the pool for a couple of lengths at the British Embassy once the official business was complete. Op SHADER was a great experience, and I would encourage everyone to volunteer for a good trawl when they get the opportunity!
