Colin McKerrell
Colin McKerrell served in The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards from 1980-2004. He met Fiona, his wife, in May 1982 when he was on leave. She was only 16 and they were married in December 1983, although they did not move into their first home in Germany until June 1984. They had four children, Gordon, Allison, Callum and
Heather. They had 12 homes in 22 years including a three year stint in in Bovington.
After leaving the Army he and Fiona’s life together was full of travel, and adventure spending time in Saudi Arabia and the Dubai. They eventually settled in Irvine . He had a number of Training Manager roles that meant he had to travel up and down the country. Fiona, with the help of Colin set up a business in dog beds which again meant a lot of travelling but which brought out the best of Colin as a salesman and he loved the interaction with the customers.
He died on 19 September 2022.
Kevin Clarke
EAGLE AND CARBINE 153
Kevin was born on 26 February 1942 and served with great distinction with the 3rd Carabiniers then Royal Scots Dragoon Guards from 1959-1984 during which time he was awarded the Sultan of Oman’s Commendation medal. He earned the utmost respect of his colleagues and made lifelong friends in the
Regiment before retiring having reached the rank of WO2. He then joined the police until he retired in 1999 and moved to Cyprus with his wife, Luise. He died peacefully, aged 80, on 28 October at MA-REA- KYVELI Care Home in Larnaca, Cyprus after a short battle with cancer. He was laid to rest at Dhekelia Military Cemetery, Cyprus on 8 November 2022, surrounded by his family, friends and ex colleagues. He is survived by his wife, Luise, his daughters Tamara, Natalie and Jacqueline, his nine grand- children and three great grandchildren.
