 Colonel Jane Elizabeth Davis OBE QVRM TD

  Colonel Davis was born in Brighton in 1955, was educated at Fitzherbert Roman Catholic School, Brighton and trained as a nurse at St Stephen’s Hospital London, qualifying in 1976. She has spent most of her nursing career in London Hospitals, mainly within in A&E and Critical Care.
Col Davis is currently the Lead Nurse on the Board of NHS Camden CCG, sits as a registrant panellist on the Conduct and Competence panels for The Nursing and Midwifery Council, the nursing and midwifery regulator for the UK and is on the Board of The HALO Trust.
She was commissioned as a Lieutenant into the Territorial Army in 1981, joining the Brighton Detachment of 217 London General Hospital (Volunteers). She remained with the London Field Hospital on its amalgamation, holding a variety of posts, including Squadron Commander, Matron, 2IC and acting
CO until 2003 when she was promoted to Colonel and took command of 306 Field Hospital. In 2006 she was appointed as TA Col Nursing at 2nd Med Bde and in 2009 as Med Group Col South, which is now the Deputy Commander (V) post that she still holds today.
Colonel Davis was deployed at short notice on OP HERRICK 13b in January 2011 as the Senior Nurse for the Role 3 hospital at Camp Bastion.
She was awarded the Territorial Decoration in 1994, the QVRM in the New Year’s Honours in 2001 and the OBE in the New Year’s Honours in 2012. She served from 2005 to 2009 as the Queens Honorary Nurse and in 2008 was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for Greater London.
Colonel Davis travels widely with The HALO Trust. Her involvement includes development of training programmes, governance, procurement of medical equipment and the training and
validation of minefield paramedics. She has had the honour of visiting and working in Afghanistan, Cambodia, Angola, Somaliland, Lebanon, Mozambique, Kosovo, Abkhazia, Georgia, Nagorno Karabakh, Sri Lanka and the Ivory Coast.
Her other interests when time permits include skiing and gardening.
In May 2014, Colonel Davis was appointed by Her Majesty The Queen as Colonel Commandant QARANC.

AMS Carol Service
It has been agreed that there will be an AMS Carol Service, Sponsored by the QARANC Association (costs will be minimal), with proceeds going to the AMS Museum.
The date will be 3 Dec 14, the location will be Sandhurst Chapel followed by a supper at AMD.

The QARANC Association recently launched its brand new website at the AGM which was held in May.
We are very pleased to have what is a new venture for the Association and hope that it will be an exciting phase in raising the Associations’ profile and fostering camaraderie and esprit de Corps.
The new site, exclusively available to retired and regular members of the Association contains information about the Association plus the latest news and events. By the end of 2014, there will be a ‘Members Only’ area where members will be able to login and access online gazettes and a host of other information.
