A Message from the Town Council
The last couple of months have certainly seen a change in the way we live, work, travel and socialise due to Covid-19. It has been a challenging time for everyone, and we are delighted that the majority of our community are following the government’s guidelines and adhering to the restrictions imposed upon us.
Many of us will have had to have cancelled events, trips, holidays etc.,
and many will have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions without family and friends. If you are finding that you’re struggling at all, there is help and support available. Please see the centre pages for details.
Local businesses will be facing new challenges as well; whether it be that they have had a period of closure, less custom, furloughing of staff etc. Again, there is help and support available for businesses and we would urge you to access this if you
so need.
At the Town Council we have been working behind the scenes, with all staff working from home. We have
been monitoring the government advice closely and responding promptly to changes. We have found it challenging restricting the use of some of our play facilities as, despite measures put in place, some individuals just choose to do as they wish.
But despite the hard times, there have been
some wonderful stories emerging ... your mind immediately goes to Captain Tom Moore – what an absolute legend!
Here in Thrapston we have our own legends. The various volunteer groups and individuals that jumped into action to help those in need are amazing and have been working tirelessly to support those in our community. To each and every one of you we thank you.
And finally...
what an amazing community we have evidenced every Thursday at 8pm – you can hear the clapping across the whole town during #ClapForOurCarers.
