Thrapston Primary School.................................................
Home schooling – the Primary School making learning cool...
As we returned to school after the Easter holidays the learning from home concept began to find a new norm in the lives of the children and adults at Thrapston Primary School. The Covid-19 situation has changed things, but the school remains a family and the way the community has worked together is wonderful.
School remains open for the children of key workers – for whom we are very grateful for their work – and to all the staff taking
part on the rota to support this facility and to keep the school running. The kitchen, under the guidance of Gail and her wonderful staff, continue to provide meals – if you need
any support in this area please email Gail
at jeanettegaunt@outlook.com. Other staff have been working either at home or safely in the school building in a wide range of areas – displays, resources, admin, cleaning, lesson preparation, online learning, parental communication, pastoral support etc.
We have had support from the wider community too – thank you to the staff
at Morrisons for helping us with our fruit supplies and some lovely Easter eggs. Jollys’ toy shop also gifted us some lovely

new toys for the key worker children to play with. There have been other gifts of sewing kits, flowers, activity packs etc. Thank you to everyone who has thought of us.
The children have continued with
their learning at home and have been communicating with us, sharing their work and fun they have been undertaking. In addition to the general Maths and English learning there have been projects about pirates, water cycles, the Seaside, Italy, Victorians... the list is endless! Children have sent in pictures of them reading in different places, have been planting sunflowers
as part of a local competition, and we
also undertook a social distancing sports competition with other local schools.
We hope to be back together in school as soon as it is safe to do so. The school day will probably look a little different for a while to come but we are very grateful to all our school community for working together to make this time as safe and supportive as possible.
If you need to contact the school please email the headteacher at pturner@thrapston. net.
