hasty fire plan to support manoeuvre, which saw troops of CR2 charging onto the objective, with fires being lifted a short while beforehand. The feedback from this training was highly positive – it was a ‘first’ for several OPs as well as CR2 crews.
Despite not practicing ‘pure’ combined arms live firing – the exer- cise was still hugely beneficial. The Battery even managed to get an arduous ‘beach PT’ session – with the BC taking great delight in introducing the sport of ‘ultimate frisbee’ to the Battery!
Courses / Qualifications / Sport
Alongside our high-tempo of exercise commitments, personnel within the Battery have still made time for a multitude of personal development opportunities – with nearly every single member of the Battery having conducted at least one career-developing course. Of note, our soldiers enjoyed particular success on ALDP courses, with both Gnr Mitchell and Gnr Lett achieving ‘top stu- dent’ on their respective course (both of whom have now pro- moted).
Additionally, WO2 (BSM) Ramage produced some silverware in the recent inter-corps golf championships.
Battery Commander’s Look Forward
By any objective measure, the last year for L (Néry) Battery has been a challenging and demanding one, with an extraordinary level of commitments both with our conversion onto armour, supporting Regimental exercises and our MRT pathway for Op CABRIT 15. The progress that the Battery has made over the last 12 months is truly remarkable; each and every member of the Battery should be immensely proud of both their individual and collective achievements. The Battery is undoubtedly in a better,
stronger place than which we started and that is a direct result of the collective determination, discipline, fortitude, resilience, and willingness to learn from each individual. The Battery is now fully ‘ready’ to deploy on Op CABRIT 15, which we will do so in Sep- tember after some very well-earned summer leave.
