It is always a pleasure to look back on the year and consider all that has been achieved by the Soldiers and Officers of The Rocket Troop. The ever-changing landscape of the world with
conflict continuing in Eastern Europe and overtones of war in the Levant, continues to ensure that professional currency and com- petence are paramount, and The Rocket Troop closely aligned to 1 DRS and 20 ABCT are at the forefront of these efforts.
The year started in excellent fashion with the 310th Anniver- sary of the Battle of Leipzig celebrated with a day of historical activities thanks to the O Battery re-enactment troop (Whinyates Troop) and culminated in an all-ranks dinner night in the WOs and Sergeants’ Mess, arranged by Capt Fox and BSM Byrne with a 6 pounder being fired by the CO and RSM to signal the start of dinner and the sword awarded posthumously to Capt Richard Bogue by the King of Sweden placed on the top table by the soldiers of Whinyates Troop. Thanks go to the RAA for facilitating the day.
The term started with a significant workforce commitment to Ex SCORPION CYCLONE as part of a wider 3(UK) Div exercise, proving concept of the DRS BCT within the divisional context. Working to DRS on exercise was refreshing, as much of the focus of the Rocket Troop often centres on support to 20 ABCT and being able to exercise the G6 team was key in delivering fun- damental principles required of the troop. Additionally, the QM’s department facilitated the entire Division with RLS from West Down Camp with great aplomb.
With the Regiment still committed with battery deployments to Op CABRIT, The Rocket Troop have facilitated multiple exercises delivering mission ready training and assurance on CSTTX and FTX in the UK and Germany. Of note was the performance of Bdr McTaggart, LBdr Rutter and Gnr Gleed in providing the LOCON support to L Bty CSTTX. With these frequent and often bespoke deployments, the personnel of Bogues Troop have a large responsibility and to a person have risen to the task to deliver across the board.
