1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery
by himself and is a vital team member, the Quartermasters, Main and Technical and there teams have continued to provide excel- lent outputs amongst the various defence requirements such as gifting in kind to Ukraine and the maintenance of the exist- ing aged fleet for forward presence and readiness taskings. The Catering department have been heavily committed and deployed as part of Op CHAMBREY to support the withdrawal of forces from Afghanistan at no notice showing real dedication and per- formed excellently.
Sport is a vital part of Army life and the Battery have represented the Regiment, Army, Combined Services and Nationally this year. Sgt Scott competed for the Army in bike enduro events, Bdr Cottrell and Gnr Brison have represented at Skiing, and the star SSgt Broatch pulled for England at the TOW World Champion- ships despite her strong Scottish accent. Additionally, there was representation in the Regimental Football side that won the RA Gunner Cup, with LBdr Mowlem anchoring the midfield and Gnrs Crowe and Brison offering depth on the bench.
Throughout what has been another busy and productive year, I continue to be struck by the quality and commitment of the Sol- diers and Officers of The Rocket Troop. Often acting 1 or 2 up, individuals have risen to the challenge which is why we had so many soldiers selected for and attending ALDP on promotion this year.
As we look forward to the next period, Ex CERBERUS, the 3(UK) Div validation exercise of the ABCTs will see the 20 ABCT Plans and Execute teams tested over a month in Germany, following a significant training pipeline through the FIST series of exercises in house and through CRTC. The Rocket Troop personnel in the Control CPs have become the vital cog able to assimilate the vital information and provide tangible effect on the ground in quick time that provides the BCT to manoeuvre its BGs to best effect. The Rocket Troop is determined to continue this excellence lead- ing into Lead ABCT commitments next year.
