Blenheim Coy Dinner Night
Prior to the Blenheim Coy dinner night on the 5th of July 2021, the Company organ- ised and hosted an incredibly moving and
thought-provoking Chapel service. The theme of the Chapel service centred around the notion of loyalty. While there was admittedly a feeling of disappointment that hymns could not be sung due to the current pandemic, the general sense of wonderment and having the ability to silently reflect within the historic chapel was thought-provoking.
2 Platoon’s OCdt Harris began the service with a procession down and turning of the page on the memorial book. We proceeded to receive a warm welcome from 1 Platoon’s OCdt Mizzi, who took the time to shed some light on what loyalty meant to him and imparted a wonderful quote from Tolkien on the theme. OCdt Stanton brought a stunned and lasting sense of wonder with her reading of Ecclesiastes 4. This led us onto OCdt Knight telling us the incredibly power- ful story of Captain Templer, a WW2 officer who escaped German capture almost a dozen times, just to be driven back to aid his men due to his stalwart sense of loyalty to them and the nation.
OCdt Brownlees brought the conversation on loyalty back into the minds of the other OCdts with a truly moving reflection on what loyalty means to him at this point in the Commission- ing Course. Lastly, we were allowed a point of further ecclesiastical solitude by OCdt Merchant who brought the service to a close, leading us all in prayer and the Sandhurst Collect.
Once the Company had moved on from the chapel, OCdts were given the chance to host and talk to RMAS Permanent Staff in their ante
