With only three weeks left of Junior Term, 1 Platoon Blenheim Company hosted a BBQ on a Friday evening at the Qaboos. The event was a great way for us to relax and interact with each other outside of the high-pres- sure work environment of the Commissioning Course, and also enabled the Platoon to prop- erly welcome two of its newer members.
The weather was gloriously sunny, and with OCdt Ritchie heading up the BBQ-ing, the food was delicious. The whole of 1 Platoon was in attendance and donned their most creative shirts in an attempt to out-do one another and be voted as the owner of the ‘best shirt’ – a title proudly awarded to Mr Simpson. It was great to see both our Platoon Commander, Capt Shel- don and our CSM WO2 Groves, also in attend- ance, and it gave us the opportunity to get to know the staff outside of working hours – and try to convince them to let us off Drill the next morn- ing! As the Platoon’s first OCdt-led social event of the term, everyone greatly appreciated the chance to spend a summer evening unwinding with friends, and for this a great thank-you goes to the Sandhurst Trust, who provided funding for the event. The Platoon is now looking ahead to our final exercise of the term and a couple of weeks of well-deserved leave.
