Master Andrew Glasby, Chief Instructor at the Nene Valley School of Taekwon-do, is now offering classes at Oundle Sports Centre for Taekwon-do and personal protection training.
How long has the company been established? Nene Valley Taekwon-do was established in January 2000 and Personal Protection Training in December 2023.
Can anyone come along to have a go?
Absolutely! Unlike combat sports, where students may feel a little intimidated to join in, self-defence or Taekwon-do training is completely inclusive for anyone, regardless of age, gender, size, height, strength or physical ability. It completely dispels the myth that you must be a giant to defend yourself!
What age do you have to be to attend? My Taekwon-do students start at around five years old. I would recommend a minimum age of 13 years for my Personal Protection Courses.
What times do classes run and from where?
Traditional Taekwon-do classes are currently running at Oundle School Sports Centre on Mondays from 4-5pm for children aged 5-12 years and 5.30-6.30pm for senior and adults (13 years plus). Also, at: Nene Park Academy on Thursday 6-7pm for children 5-12 years and 7-9pm for senior and adults 13 years plus some Saturdays 10-12pm – all students.
What are the costs involved? Taekwon-do: There is membership/license/insurance fee of £35/annum (mandatory for martial artists) plus training fees: children £30 per month or £8
per session and adults £32 per month or £8.50 per session. Personal Protection Classes: £8.50 per session or £48 for full set of six sessions (certificate awarded for completing six sessions).
