Ex DESERT
WARRIOR
Enhancing warfighting skills with the KAF
Over the course of three challenging weeks,
3 RIFLES joined forces with Kuwait’s 94
Brigade in Ex DESERT WARRIOR. The exercise
focused on enhancing warfighting skills
and sharing expertise, with a particular
emphasis on urban drills and the integration
of Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (sUAS).
Training alongside the 94 Brigade offered a
fascinating insight into how a partner nation’s
military operates. Their approaches to urban
warfare, tactics, and integration of local
knowledge added a valuable dimension to
the training. The exercise was not just about
military drills; it was also a cultural exchange,
fostering mutual respect and understanding
between the two forces.
The urban drills pushed participants to their
limits, testing their ability to clear buildings,
secure objectives, and operate effectively
in close quarters. UAS were pivotal, offering
real-time reconnaissance and situational
awareness, vital tools in the modern battlefield.
For many of us, it was our first time working
so extensively with such technology, and the
results were eye-opening.
Away from the military training, there was
the rare opportunity to explore Kuwait. After a
bustling markets to stunning desert vistas, this
opportunity to experience the local culture and
hospitality added a memorable dimension to
the exercise.
