3 RIFLES BOXING
GALA 2024
In a packed FOE sandwiched between
numerous operations and overseas
exercises, 3 RIFLES held the annual boxing
night in November. Seven bouts were
contested on the night with participants of
all ranks taking part. The lead up to fight
night was an arduous 6-weeks of physical
and technical training, for many of which
had no prior boxing experience.
With the Battalion well hydrated and
eagerly waiting, the bouts got under way. The
standout bout and overall fight of the night
was awarded to Rfn Douce and Cpl Ingamells
who both displayed absolute courage and
grit in what can only be described as a
three round war ending with a standing
ovation from all those watching. Rfn Magee
was awarded the best boxer of the night,

showcasing a full skill set to be a tough and
experienced opponent for Rfn Dallas.
Rfn Spencer being our only Female
fighter took a challenge from 3RHA to box
against a quality opponent in enemy territory.
Unfortunately, Spencer being the away fighter
didn’t get the rub of the green on a tightly
contested split decision but came away
with lots of experience to take into her next
appearance.
