The DCLI, SCLI, LI & Rifles Bodmin Association Reunion at The Keep
The LI and RIFLES Bodmin Association held their annual reunion on the same day as the Sounding Retreat at The Keep in Bodmin. The Association is made up of mainly Light Infantryman, with a few DCLI, SCLI veterans and Riflemen. The rain held off and even the sun came out for the Drumhead Service at the DCLI War Memorial, which was accompanied by a section of The Salamanca Band and Bugles of the Rifles. As has become customary, the names of fallen LI Soldiers were read out during the service.
THE BODMIN SOUNDING RETREAT & REGIMENTAL RECEPTION

the Waterloo Band, Sounded Retreat in the Rifles Freedom Town of Bodmin. The Retreat was followed by a Regimental Reception and a reaffirming Ceremony that reaffirmed our status as a RIFLES Freedom Town. This ceremony was hosted jointly with Bodmin Town Council.

The DCLI, SCLI, LI & Rifles Lucknow Dinner
This year’s Lucknow Dinner finally went ahead at the Kilbirnie Hotel Newquay, after two long years of postponements. The branch holds this dinner annually, keeping alive and in celebration of The Defence of Lucknow.
The evening started well with an individual welcome by the Chairman. The guests for the evening were Major Warren Marginson the outgoing OC D Coy 6 Rifles and the incoming OC Major Tom Roden.
There were five members of the Bugle Association with us and we entered the dining room with the Salamanca Band of the Rifles playing the traditional “Roast Beef of England”.
Our President Major Hugo White was given a hearty congratulations and standing ovation, when it was announced that he had been awarded an MBE in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours.
The dinner was a total success, and we are now all looking forward to The Paardeberg Dinner on Saturday 26 March 2022.
