represented our culminating event of Junior Term Once preparation and accountability had been conducted we stepped off to locate our our harbour area conducting a a a a a a a a a a a snap ambush along the the route as well Once on on on on the the designated location we we outlined our our our harbour with comms cord began digging our our our our sentry positions and then started on on our our own shell scrapes The first day of of exercise always consists of of endless digging we had to to to be mindful to to to to to not forget to to to to to eat our meals Stand- to to to to can catch a a a a a a a a platoon out as as OCdt Rhinesmith USA
the the platoon harbour Just after I stepped off from our our kneeling herringbone formation and sent the the signal back to to maintain a a a a a a a a a a a a staggered column a a a a a a a a a a a a torrential downpour arrived Let it it be known that this was definitely not the the shower shower I I I wanted but Platoon Inkerman Company had unloaded Bergens and and equipment from the transport
vehicles and and and had initiated preparations to to time flashes by so we learnt you must work diligently as as a a a a a a a platoon to to ensure the the harbour is at at at the the standard before that time Stand-to was conducted at 0415hrs on on our first morning after which we we were requested
to to to move with haste to to to make our our H-hour at the the the the Company FOB to to to begin our our our train- ing ing for the the the the day One of the the the the best parts about the the the the training programme here at at at Sandhurst is that you conduct numerous repetitions of attacks and everyone will have have the the opportunity to take on on on on a a a a a a a a a leadership leadership position position the the majority of us have have multiple leadership leadership positions throughout each day day day Today’s events included an an entire day day day of of section section attacks and by the end of of of it every single member of of my section section section had developed increased confidence navigating a a a a a a a a a section section towards an enemy objective reactions to to contact sketching a a a a a a a a a a a a section attack plan and implementing the use of fire support as as as well as as as an an an assaulting element ultimately defeating the enemy position After completing an arduous day of squad attacks it was time to to patrol our way back to to the the shower shower I I I deserved I I I consistently reminded myself that regardless of the the the weather the the the Combat Estimate waits for nobody and it it was time to begin reviewing our our orders integrat- ing ing ing our our our new FRAGO and developing our our our our scheme of manoeuvres Time to set up our our our bashers and begin our our our planning On the the the following day day and for the the the remaining days thereafter our focus was executing platoon level attacks with the the aim of becoming more knowl- edgeable regarding everyone’s individual roles while most importantly becoming more confident in in in a a a a a a a command position We learnt to trust in in in what we’ve been taught over these last few months of training and not be be be afraid to to make the the the deci- sions that are determined best for the the the platoon regardless of of the the the risk risk involved Taking calculated risks is is is a a a a a a a a a major part of of the the course You must be comfortable to to push yourself into those situa- tions in in in which you you you are not the most confident Difficulty is relative keep challenging yourself and the the instructors will guide you you on the the right path The feedback from our our platoon staff staff and those additional staff staff members assigned to to our our pla-
You must be comfortable to to push yourself into those situations in in which you are not the most confident SANDHURST
