REACH It is a a a a a a a a true test of character and abil- ity with approximately 30 chosen from from upwards of 65 candidates Individuals are selected from from across the the the the Army and and only the the the the best get through to instruct the the the the the future military leaders of the the the the the United Kingdom and the the world My time at the the Academy has fuelled my my personal development and the the experience gained from working at such a a a a a a a a a high-profile establishment has been invaluable The exposure to the wider army gained through working alongside members of of staff from across all three services of of the Armed Forces has has been very informative and and has has helped broaden my understanding Working alongside numerous international officers has also devel- oped my strategic understanding and and given me me me insight into the the the importance the the the British Armed Forces throughout the the the the the world My most enjoy- able time at the the the Academy was instructing on on on the the the Regular Commissioning Course alongside Major Rizwan Hassan of the Pakistan Army We were responsible for 9 Platoon Waterloo Company a a a a a a a a platoon of of 27 men men and women including the the winner of of the the the Queens Medal who all success- fully gained their Commissions A truly motivated and and professional group of of men men and and women who will thrive in their respective units Whilst the focus of my time at RMAS has been been spent developing future leaders I have also been been able to develop develop and further refine my own lead- ership style Working with the the the OCdts of the the the cur- rent generation has proven that an an “old school” approach is no longer the the way forward and the the creation of a a a a a a a a a working environment based on on on on on on trust trust is vital Entrusting everyone with respon- sibility ensures inclusion generates ownership and develops a a a a a a a a a team capable of the most effi- cient pathway to to to success I I look forward to to to implementing what I I have learnt on on my return to to to the the 1st Battalion and aiding in in in the the development of leaders at at all levels ‘Death Before Dishonour’ SANDHURST
