Chilli pruning
Manchester and Cheshire DA
At our DA we haven’t had a meeting
since September 2024. We are going
to recommence the meetings in March
2025 with our AGM and a speaker.
I am currently in the process of booking
these speakers for 2025. We have the
following ones lined up and I will put
them onto the NVS website and email out
once I have full confirmation of dates.
•
•
•
•
Fruit Tree Pruning – Peter Nichol
Growing Show Veg –
John Bebbington
Looking after Cacti/Tropical Plants
– John Leaning
Foraging/Herbalist –
Barbara Wilkinson
•
Mayfield Gardens – Jane Allison
I’ve also been busy preparing my
chilli plants for overwintering in the
heated greenhouse. The temperature
needs to be a minimum of 15 degrees.
As we cannot always guarantee that
temperature especially when we have
had the extreme cold recently, I cover
them with fleece once they have been
pruned right back and then only give
them minimal water. Hopefully they will
survive the winter but just to be on the
safe side I have planted more seeds as a
back-up.
The leeks and onions are growing
nicely in the grow tents where they
will stay until March when the daylight
reaches 12 hours. We will keep repotting
these until they outgrow the tents.
If you wish to be added to the mailing
list for the Manchester and Cheshire
Branch then please email me at
manchesternvs@gmail.com
We meet at Hough End Police Club,
Mauldeth Rd West, Chorlton M21 7SX on
the first Tuesday of the month starting the
4th March at 7:30pm.
We hope to see you all there.
Sandra
