23465699 Cpl William ‘Bill’ HARTSHORNE of Burton on Trent, died in 2019. Bill was a long serving member of the Corps of Drums of
1 MERCIAN V and the MVRA Burton Branch.
KNOTT
22372552 Sgt J R H Knott MBE died on 28 April 2019. He was a former Sergeant of the 1st Bn (Cheshire).
LACEY
Mr Ernest Richard Beverley Lacey of the Cheshire Regimental Association died on 28 February 2019.

Mr Robert (Bob) Lacey died 28 August 2019. 1st Bn (Cheshire).
LEADBEATER
22288147 WO2 Raymond A LEADBEATER BEM died on 9 February 2020 aged 88. Raymond enlisted on 12 September 1949 and served with 1st Bn The Worcestershire Regiment until 17 February 1964. He was Mercian Depot Permanent Staff from 18 February 1964 to 14 September 1966 before returning to the 1st Bn until 12 January 1969. He returned again to the Mercian Depot until 31 July 1972 during which time he amalgamated into the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters. Raymond then became a PSI for the Mercian Volunteers until his discharge on 13 December 1976. Raymond served in UK, Malaya, BAOR and the West Indies.
MORGAN
Lyn MORGAN, the widow of Jerry (George Claude) Morgan ex RSM Sherwood Foresters, died on 30 December 2019
MORGAN
Sgt Tony MORGAN died on 20 March 2020. Tony served with the Sherwood Foresters
in Borneo and Malaya between 1964 and 1966 and with A Coy in Munster.
MOULE
Pte Roy MOULE of Kidderminster, died on 19 May 2019. Roy served
as a cook with B Coy,
1 MERCIAN V and was
a great supporter of the Association.

Mr Aidy O’Brien of B Coy 1st Bn (Cheshire) died 20 May 2019.
O’CONNOR
23683198 Mr Anthony William (Tony) O’Connor died 1 June 2019. He served between 1958 – 1970.
PARKIN
24122406 Cpl Pete PARKIN who died on 3 August. Pete enlisted in 1WFR in 1970 and served for 22 years during which he served for some time in the Assault Pioneer Platoon and latterly in the QM’s Dept. He served in NI, Belize and Cyprus during a UN tour and was discharged on 25 November 1992.

John ‘Jack’ Parrott of Chesterfield, Derbyshire died on 19 April 2020
aged 98. Originally from Sheffield, Jack joined the local Territorial Army in June of 1939 and signed up as a
regular soldier, with 2nd Bn The Sherwood Foresters, the day after WWII was declared. As an Immature Soldier (a soldier who was too young to deploy), Jack was sent to Kedleston Hall as a Mess Steward. In early 1940, Jack re-joined the Bn in Hucknall and went with them to the East coast
of Scotland and then Doncaster before moving to Edinburgh for driver training and re-joining the Bn in Norfolk where he also learnt to ride motorbikes. This led
to his transfer to the Royal Army Service Corp (RASC) In 1941 and his becoming a Despatch Rider. On D-Day +6, Jack landed on Gold Beach and moving through France, later went into Belgium and Holland and eventually Germany. Whilst in post war Munster, he was offered an immediate commission which he refused, and Jack left the Army in July 1946. Jack was awarded the Legion d’honneur, by the East Midlands French Consulate on 19 December 2018.

Joyce Margaret PARROTT (always known as Margaret), wife of Sherwood Forester WWII veteran Jack Parrott, died on 2 April 2020 aged 95.
PARRY
Major EAJ PARRY MBE of Lustleigh, Devon died on 16 March 2020 aged 92. He was commissioned from Sandhurst in 1948 and served with 1ST Bn The Worcestershire Regiment
in Berlin and Malaya before undergoing a language course and serving
in the Defence Intelligence Staff in MOD. He returned to the Bn in Iserlohn in 1955 and
 HATTON
4986394 Pte James Neville HATTON of Spondon, Derby died on 11 November 2019 aged 95. James enlisted in the 2nd Battalion The Sherwood Foresters 31 October 1941 and he served with it in
UK, Africa (Tunisia), Pantelleria (The Italian Malta), Anzio, then moved up to Florence before the Bn moved to Palestine, but James remained in Italy as he transferred to the Kings Own Royal Regiment (Lancaster) on 5 March 1945.
HEALEY
23352937 LCpl Gerald ‘Aussie’ Thomas HEALEY of Nottingham died on 26 November 2019 aged 81. (Aussie enlisted into the 1st Battalion The Sherwood Foresters in the 1950’s and served with
it in UK, BAOR, Malaysia, Cyprus and NI until transferring to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment in 1970.
JAMES
John James died on 12 January 2019 aged 86. He served with the 1st Bn (Cheshire) in the Suez Canal Zone & Berlin.
KEMP
24184623 WO2 Trevor Dennis KEMP of Gedling, Nottinghamshire died
in October 2019 aged 68. Unable to enlist into the regular army due
to a childhood illness,
Trevor joined the 5th/8th Foresters in 1967. He was then re-badged
under the 1st Bn The Mercian Volunteers. Trevor served with D Coy until 24 June 1989 when the 1st and 2nd Bn’s of the Mercian Volunteers formed the 4th Bn Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters (WFR). He served in Nottingham with D Coy 4 WFR and when they were disbanded, moved to HQ Coy 3 WFR where he served until 12 August 1996.
KENNEDY
Alan Kennedy was the Chairman of the Stockport Branch, as well as a Trustee of the Cheshire Regimental Association. He died on 14 September 2019.
KIPPS
23155754 Cpl Gordon Kipps was the Ellesmere Port Branch secretary of the Cheshire Regimental Association. He worked hard to keep the branch going. He served in Berlin & Malaya. He died on 23 June 2019.
MOXON
    Mr Peter Moxon OBE DL passed away on the 29th August at the age of 85, whilst
in the care of the Douglas Macmillan Hospice. Peter was educated at Tre- Arddur House School, Anglesey, Kingsland Grange, Shrewsbury and Bradfield College, Berkshire before undertaking his National Service initially as 2nd Lieutenant with North Staffordshire/Staffordshire Regiments (1957-59) and then as a Reservist serving as Captain with 887 Locating Battery RA (TA) (1961-67) and Captain/Adjutant with 35th Royal Signal Regiment(TAVR) (1967- 71).
