heritage being embraced by the new generation of soldiers. One of the occasions involved the interesting task of transporting two Victoria Crosses to Cyprus for a dinner evening. They were of course the medals which were awarded to Major Robert Cain VC and L/Sgt Daniel Baskeyfield VC. I’m still not sure if I was more or less nervous than the two individuals themselves would have been when they were sat in their gliders awaiting take off. It was a very special occasion for me as, apart from the two-star items on display for the evening, we were join by Mrs Francie Cain and her daughter Emily Clarkson and also Major J Peach
 brave actions during the Sicily landings in 1943. However he is perhaps better known for a particular picture of him, which was taken by a German soldier as he was taken prisoner in Arnhem.
