   58 RIFLES The Bugle
OVERVIEW NORTH & NORTH EAST REGION
As the Region moves, if a little slower than expected, back to some sort of normal that includes the ability to mix socially the various RIFLES Family organisations are planning enthusiastically to bring people together.
The DLI are planning for their usual second weekend in September events. The Rifleman’s Association North East have a full schedule of activities starting with an Oktoberfest on 2nd of October and the RIFLES/ LI/KOYLI Association will finally be able to mark the opening of the KOYLI Gallery in Doncaster Museum and commemorate Minden Day on the 1st August. The Rifles Memorial Service returns as an actual event to York Minster, the service this year will be conducted by the Padre of 8 Rifles, Edward Downes.
Never slow to learn from experi- ences all the event planners have included options to their plans and are maintaining a flexible approach!
Cadets have, across the region been especially affected by the stop start effect of the pandemic, planning to commence training as soon as possible only to have their events cancelled. The most recent casualty has been the annual summer training camps. The good news is that the minute training is allowed it will be back with a bang.
Sadly, we have said farewell to more of our veteran Riflemen, some tragically taken before their time.
